Cllr. Mike Ryan, Newton Abbot’s mayor, learnt first hand about the support available locally for those experiencing domestic abuse on his recent visit to the open day at the Change Academy in Newton Abbot (9 December).

Cllr Ryan chatted to local staff and Jan Brand, Trustee of Splitz who provide DDASS (Devon Domestic Abuse Support Service), the service commissioned by Devon County Council to work with high and medium risk victims and their children. ‘All of us at Splitz are very proud of the work that is underway in Devon’, said Jan brand, who is one of the charity’s Trustees and lives in Colyton. ‘So much has been achieved in such a short time and many vulnerable women from across our County are drawing strength from this hugely committed and talented team’.
